I recently fell in love all over again with the Assassin's Creed series as I was just rolling through AC: Brotherhood. However, I actually got into a bit of a fix when I acquired the Apple of Eden in sequence 8. The Apple of Eden can turn your enemies against each other, but it may also only work to strike fear into your opponent. While holding the Apple of Eden, you can't use any weapons or tools. You can't even call your horse, you have to hijack one.
Anyways, I had managed to get a few assassin recruits together by the time I was to tail the Cardinal to the meeting with Cesare Borgia, but the waves of guards we had to fight off proved to be too much for my level 5s and 6s. They all ended up dying in battle. Not able to determine a way to pass sequence 8 after that, I restarted the campaign. This time I stayed away from sequence 8, purposefully avoiding the storyline quests until I had enough assassin recruits and until they were strong enough to actually fight and not die. I ended up with the max, 12 recruits, all leveled up to the rank of Assassin when I returned to sequence 8. We passed through the waves of soldiers in a matter of seconds.
By this time I had also learned of a third function of the Apple of Eden. The first ring of influence of the Apple is striking fear and turning enemies against each other. This is the yellow ring. But if you activate the Apple longer, you get the white ring, which kills those it touches. Knowing this, I went back to my first saved campaign after actually finishing the game on my redo and used that new knowledge to finish off the guards single-handed. This was accomplished by a lot of running in circles.
Anyways, I'm now going back in time to Altair and the early stages of Ezio with Assassin's Creed 1 and 2. One is kind of boring to me so far...
